This Saturday, August 18th, Hundred Acre celebrates its 10th birthday. Our Founder and Director, Bridget Gilmour, shares her thoughts to mark this special occasion.
Whilst many things have changed over the past decade, one thing has always remained the same: our mission to help everyone get home healthy and safe at the end of every working day.
A Message from Bridget…
This Saturday, August 18th, my Hundred Acre world turns ten. Many businesses don’t make their first year, or third or fifth – ten is something to celebrate. Upon reflection, I’m not sure where those years have gone. Though wow, how proud am I!
So much has happened. There have been sticky moments, heartbreak and individuals who have challenged. Though as I write this I’m smiling to think of the nearly 100 businesses I’ve supported, the friends I’ve made and that even though at times it was uncomfortably tight every bill has been paid. I can reflect on how many lessons I have learned and can see quite clearly how far I have come from the nervous person who quit her job with no work and no savings because it just felt right.
No two days in my world are ever the same. I never really know what to expect. No-one could predict a building collapse and I wish I hadn’t had to support two fatalities. Though I also never dreamt I’d have lunch at the House of Lords or observe open heart surgery.
In this world we never know what might happen and we have to embrace every day. I will continue to strive for balance and adventures, in equal measure. Having reached the pinnacle of my profession by gaining a fellowship to the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and ticked Machu Picchu off my bucket list. I have an open book and clean page for what comes next.
While I never know what each new day will bring, and I certainly can’t imagine where I might be in another ten years. I am thankful for all I have. Hundred Acre is truly my safe place, looking after me and allowing me to follow my dreams.
So I raise a glass, thank you to everyone who has been by my side and is helping me celebrate my Hundred Acre world.
An extra special thank you to Sarah Hodgkins of Charlotte Designs for the beautiful image attached to this post. I asked her to create me a special picture. I am thrilled with what she has done and the care she took to create it.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.
