In 2008 when the decision was made to set up in business an equally hard decision was what it would be called. Little did our Founder and Director Bridget Gilmour know when the name was chosen the impact it would have on her life and we all now know as her Hundred Acre world.
Every year on author A A Milnes birthday, Winnie-the-Pooh day celebrates the world that inspired our name. A perfect time to sit, enjoy a smackerel of something, and ponder….
More than ever before we are inspired by the characters and the magic they bought generations. Created for A A Milnes son Christopher Robin these characters are so much more than children’s characters. The books and the more recent films have shown even more magic with the different sides to all of their personalities that we refer to in so much in our world. This is definitely something we will be looking into more to keep learning.
It’s more than just the personalities. There are so many lessons we can all learn. Health and safety is all about teamwork, listening, planning and training. We use quotes from the pages of the books in all we do.
We love adventures, who couldn’t like an expotition to the North Pole or searching for a woozleor a heffalump. There have been a few of them in our world over the years. Not least a special birthday in Ashdown Forest – or a little further afield too.
In between all of the work we do these messages and adventures mean so much, and we know from the comments we receive from clients and readers they make others smile too.
So, a toast to A A Milne and to all Winnie-the-Pooh fans out there. When Winnipeg, or Winnie the bear, arrived at London Zoo from Canada who knew what it would inspire.
We know there are more adventures to come and you can be sure when they do, mixed in with the work we do, we will be sure to share.
