Everyone has a time of the year that’s significant to them, and it’s often the case that a time can be special for many reasons. In our Hundred Acre world, June is a wonderful month.
The IOSH Annual Conference is nearly here, as well as the greatest motor race of the year, but there’s also a very special day coming up for Hundred Acre, and its significance means so much to us that we thought we’d share it with you.
This coming Monday, June 6th, is Bridget’s birthday. Bridget, Hundred Acre’s founder and director, was born on her grandma’s birthday, which makes the day even more special for her. However, if you ask Bridget about the day she’ll tell you it’s even more significant for her because it was D-Day.
On D-Day (June 6th 1944), allied forces carried out operations intended to safely secure an area of Northern France, starting with Pegasus Bridge, which you can see pictured above left.
Bridget has learnt many things about the significance of the day and all the events that resulted from the efforts made on June 6th. She’s enjoyed many visits to Normandy and areas of Northern France with family and friends, and has met others there while on her travels. Having the opportunity to hear stories from veterans as they revisited the region is something she will always hold dear.
Bridget explains: “The importance of some events and the impact they have on all of our futures cannot be forgotten when it comes to the 1944 events in Normandy and other battles and wars. For all of the events around us in 2016 we all have to give thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice to allow us our freedom.”
We never know what’s around the corner, that’s why we make each day a special one at Hundred Acre. While we wish Bridget a very happy birthday, we also give untold thanks to all our soldiers, past and present, for all they do for our freedom; freedom that allows us to enjoy every day.
The world is an amazing place and we all deserve to enjoy each and every day it brings, which is why we work so hard with our clients to make sure everyone gets home from work in the same mental and physical state as they arrived.
